My First Christmas...

Brecken turned 10 weeks old today!! At his two month appointment (9 weeks) he weighed in at 12 lbs 3 oz. and was 23.5 inches long. He is almost identical to what his dad was at his 2 month mark. He has discovered his hands and is so much more alert these days. We are enjoying every minute with him. He gives us huge smiles and "talks" up a storm. The sparkly lights of the Christmas tree really caught his attention and he could stare at them forever. Too bad we have to take them down soon...we'll have to find something else sparkly for him to stare at!!

Brecken was spoiled by his aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents on Christmas. He had fun trying to help us open all of his presents. He is going to be one snazzy dresser over this next year from all of the adorable clothes he received. He should also be one big smarty pants with all of the educational toys and books.

Christmas now takes on a new meaning for Steve and I and we are so excited for the years to come where he will start to understand what Christmas is and we can all share in the excitement.

It is amazing how fast they really do grow up.

Missing my daddy and my naps...

Steve has been out of town this week, so Brecken and I were on our own. Things started out well, but on Thursday he got his first bad case of diaper rash. Poor thing was not very happy all day. He seems to have woken up this morning with the "ain't no sore butt gonna hold me down
" attitude and is all smiles. I am glad he is feeling better. Not much I could do yesterday for him, I had to continue changing his diaper.

This week Brecken has fallen in love with himself. He looks at himself in his tummy time mirror and just chats away and smiles over and over again. Not only do his parents think he is the cutest thing ever but I am pretty convinced he also thinks he is the cutest thing ever. It is fun to watch him get so excited.

Giving a "pound" to myself in the mirror.

Poor Jager has been bored since it has been so cold all week, we haven't been able to take him outside to play much. I know all of us are excited for daddy to get home.

We have also been battling nap time. According to my mom, I was not a big napper and Brecken seems to be taking after me. He yawns and gets all sleepy but the second I put him down he wants nothing to do with sleeping. I have tried the cry it out method but he seems to be one stubborn little boy and tends to outlast me 9 out of 10 times. He must get that stubborness from his daddy. :) He does love being in the baby bjorn and will fall asleep within minutes of us putting him in it. So, when I really need to get things done and he won't nap, I put him in there and go about cleaning the house or doing whatever it is I need to get done for the day. This is a habit though I would like to break him of...he really needs to learn to nap in his bed. BREAKING NEWS..... I am happy to report that I have finally put a point on the board in the mommy wins column and he is asleep.

My gums are chattering....

BBBRRRRRRRRRR, it is so cold out this week. Our little B doesn't seem to mind though.

So, we haven't been very good at writing on our blog, but hey, I will really try my hardest to be better. To catch up, Brecken is 7 weeks old now. He weighs over 1o pounds and is over 22 inches long. We have his two month appointment on the 18th so I'll be able to give more accurate statistics.

We are loving our time with him. He is so fun and cuddly. He loves tummy time and looking at himself in the mirror. He melts my heart with his open mouthed smiles and all the little cooing noises he makes.

Here comes Little B...

Friday, October 16th was our projected due date and we were ready for the baby to make its debut. On Friday I wasn't feeling right so we went into the Dr. early in the day to find out that nothing was happening. At 12:05 a.m. on Saturday morning my water ended up breaking...just 5 minutes after the due date. Contractions started halfway to the hospital, where we got checked in around 1:30 a.m. For the next seven hours contractions were almost consistently every minute.

It had been a long night...

On October 17th at 8:56 a.m., Brecken Lee was born. He was 8 lbs and 21 inches long. We are in the midst of figuring him out as he is trying to figure out his new world. This first week has been fun and educational for all. We are exhausted but wouldn't trade it for the world.

My three favorite boys.
